Wednesday, June 25, 2009 (TRC): THE Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Liberia (TRC) is gratified by the exuberant patriotic commitment to the TRC process demonstrated by delegates and participants at the just ended National Reconciliation Conference.

The commission is extremely appreciative to the delegates for their frank and nationalistic discussions that culminated into the conclusion and signing of the "Virginia Declaration."

The TRC extols the delegates and the Liberian people for their overwhelming support to the TRC process leading to the National Reconciliation Conference during which time they positively impacted the TRC peace building initiatives. The commission is moreover thankful to the Liberian people for their continuous contribution and support to the core mandate of the TRC.

The meaningful involvement and support of the Liberian people have ensured that the processes and activities of the TRC are representative of the views of the broad spectrum of the Liberian society.

By this broad participation, the commission is confident that Liberians have built a national consensus and will support the expeditious implementation of the TRC recommendations.

The TRC therefore hail as patriotic and nationalistic the commitment of the conference delegates and participants and assures them that their wishes and aspiration will be reflected in the findings and recommendations of the commission. The People of Liberia have spoken and the nation and the TRC respect and honor them.
