National Security Advisor Dr. H. Boimah Fahnbulleh and Governance Commission Chair Dr. Amos Sawyer are amongst several prominent Liberian professionals to address Liberia's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Institutional Hearings on Governance Thursday.
Also to address the hearings are Dr. Thomas Jaye, research fellow of the Kofi Annan International Institute in Accra, Ghana; former deputy Internal Affairs Minister Alfred Kulah; former Internal Affairs Minister Oscar Jayee Quiah; University of Liberia Political Science Professor Alaric Tokpah and Traditional Chief Ansumana Kasuwah.

The Institutional Hearing on Governance in Liberia under the theme: "Examining the Processes, Administration and Policies of Governance from 1979-2003 is meant to provide a critical review and expert perspectives into the dynamics and processes of governance and their impact on the Liberian conflict.

As part of its mandate to promote national peace, security, unity and reconciliation following Liberia's long running conflict, the TRC is required to adopt appropriate mechanisms and procedures to document the experiences of Liberians and address varying issues that impacted the conflict.

There is an overwhelming agreement by Liberians that persistent bad governance has been the cause of social and economic hardship and the political crisis that culminated into the 14 years civil conflict in Liberia.
This made it imperative that the TRC look into the cross cutting issues of Governance in order to come out with recommendations for reforms and readjustment of policies to prevent the reoccurrence of conflicts in Liberia and create an enabling environment for the promotion of reconciliation, justice, peace, stability, development and prosperity.
